Life is moving so fast I can't post BEFORE I do what I'm going to do! Can't believe I missed so much of April. Retrospect, this past weekend was a good one in the Bay.
Friday night, I went to a restaurant in Walnut Creek that was new to me. Named Sasa. Sushi restaurant. Cute place on North Main, with $7 valet and Bentleys parked out front. Food was yummy and drinks were yummier. My only qualm with "Sasa" was when I placed my order with the waiter, I changed my mind and ordered something different. He apparently thought I wanted both items and sent them both out. (Here's where I get confused and disgusted.) I inform him that I only wanted one of the items and he tells me just don't touch what I don't want and he'll take it back to the kitchen. Huh?? Okkkaaay. I don't touch what I don't want. Someone else joins us later and orders the same thing I was sending back. He gives my half eaten plate to her! WHAT?? I could've coughed tuberculosis and H1N1 germs on the food?! Who does that?? I have never heard of that in my life. And I waited tables in college. That's pathetic. I won't knock the restaurant and say I'll never be back because that was clearly a personal decision on his part. But I don't need him to be my server. And he was a cutie too. *snaps* Smh...
Saturday, I took my baby to his basketball game and then over to his Dad's family to spend the weekend with them. Spur of the moment, my homie Luke invited me to the A's game. The weather was PERFECT and it was Rickey Henderson bobblehead day. Rickey is one of my alma mater, Oakland Technical High School's, great alumni! Alas, I was too late to grab a bobblehead but good times were had. After leaving there I linked with a couple of friends to sell them some Oakland Girl shirts then took a short nap before going on a date to the Kevin Hart show. Dude is HILARIOUS. We laughed from beginning to end. His opening comedians were really good too.
Sunday, I linked with my friend and business partner Shavonne, and we met up with a couple of friends at a spot in the city called Rigolo Cafe on California in the Laurel Heights neighborhood. The food was good, coffee even better. When you go in, you grab a table and a menu then go up front and place your order, helpful when everyone is paying for their own meal. Our meals came out quickly but somewhat staggered by the order and time it took us to decide and make our way up to the counter. I had a chicken scramble with gruyere cheese, onions and red bell peppers, coffee and a mimosa. Total: $21 Probably won't be going back anytime soon. We can get all that right on Lakeshore or at other places in Oakland... After leaving there, we headed back to the East Bay and went over to one of our fave spots, the deck at Lake Chalet on Lake Merritt. The San Francisco breeze was kicking in and we were ill-prepared. Happy Hour at Lake Chalet was just gearing up so we grabbed a table out on the deck. The weather was perfect. Our group grew from a party of 2, to a party of ELEVEN by the time we left at 7pm. Our server was great and so was the company. Gotta love Oakland. ;)
